10/17/08 - The girls defeated Mt. St. Mary's on Thursday 3-1, to finish their 2008 league schedule with an 8-5 league record. The win avenged a 3-0 loss to Mt. St. Mary's earlier this season. The Bears still have several non-league matches left including the N. Tonawanda Tournament this weekend, along with the season finale vs. Newfane at IA on Wed, 10/22.
10/14/08 - The Bears have put together an impressive 13-5 record this year, including a 9-game winning streak and 12-1 start. They lost a couple tough matches to Sacred Heart and St. Mary's recently, before bouncing back with a win over Nardin. The girls look to continue their winning ways this week, when they take on Sacred Heart and Mt. St. Mary's - both games are at IA.
9/6/08 - The varsity volleyball team won the Gold Division of the St. Mary's of Lancaster Tournament, by knocking off Kenmore West, 26-17-16, 24-25-14 in the championship game. The girls beat West Seneca East to advance to Saturday's championship match. The Bears will host Maryvale on Monday before heading back to St. Mary's for a tilt with the Lancers on Wednesday.
2007
NYSAIS State Champions
11-2 Record
After graduating nine seniors last year, 2007 was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Immaculata varsity volleyball team. However, under the guidance of head coach Drew Lewandowski, the girls finished with an 11-2 record and won the state championship (NYSAIS) in November, in New York City.
Led by seniors Melissa and Kaitlin, the Bears made it to their second consecutive state tournament (semi-finalist, ’06). With only two seniors on the roster, Melissa was able to step up and provide much needed leadership.
Rounding out the starting roster were sophomores Jill, Megan, Alex, Sarah, and Megan. The freshman class was represented by Lindsay.
Also contributing to the team’s success were juniors Laura, Charlene, Emily, Erin, Amber, Candice, and Brittany.
