Do you do block scheduling?
No, we have a 6 day rotation schedule and 8 class periods per day. According to recent studies, there is evidence that student achievement may not be sustained with block scheduling (Bateson, 1990). Data show that students in all-year courses consistently perform better than students in semester-long science classes at the high school level. Another study (Raphael, Wahlstrom, & McLean, 1986; Raphael & Wahlstrom, 1986) shows similar findings in high school mathematics. These studies suggest that retention may be a problem.

Can freshmen take advanced course?
It is possible. If a student has taken a course or regents exam as an 8th grade student, then it may be possible to schedule them for the next course in succession.

What possibilities are available for students to take courses for college credit?
Students have several options. Students may apply for Advanced Placement Courses which could lead to college credit. After completion of their junior year, students are eligible to take entry level courses at Hilbert College at a reduced rate. Our calculus class is approved by Hilbert College to be granted transferrable credit.

Do you have an honors track?
We offer a variety of honors level and Advanced Placement Courses courses. Students are required to apply for acceptance into these courses each year. Students need to meet grade requirements, submit a demonstration of work, and receive recommendation from faculty. This process provides each student a unique opportunity to participate on a yearly basis.
